On January 1, 2004, B.C.’s ‘Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) came into force. The general principle underlying the Act is that ‘Personal Information’ about an individual is the property of, and belongs to, that individual. The Act has been designed to govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by companies in a manner that recognizes both the right of the individuals to have their personal information protected and the need for organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. For example, the collection of social insurance numbers required for the issuance of tax slips pertaining to investment products.

Maintaining your personal information within a secure environment and respecting your right to privacy and confidentiality has always been, and will continue to be very important to us. We limit the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information to data which will enable us to provide the best possible service to you. We do not distribute client information to any third parties, without your specific written consent, other than for the purpose of initiating and servicing financial services contracts for you. If you would like your personal information, or information pertaining to the financial services contracts that you have purchased through Cascadia Green Development to be disclosed to any third party, we will require your written consent.

Please be aware that Cascadia Green Development is retaining your personal information, and that this information may include, but is not limited to, names, dates of birth, contact information, social insurance numbers, medical history, and financial information. The associates and staff of Cascadia Green Development may, as required, access this information in order to provide the products and services that you have requested, as well as products and services that may be of benefit to you in the future, and that this information may be seen during a regulatory audit, or as otherwise required by law.
